Moonstar88 is one of the famous female-fronted bands in the Philippine local music scene. They started out like most indie bands, who submitted a demo CD to different record companies, but one company took them in: Alpha Records.

Currently they have 2 albums, Popcorn, Press to Play, and one collaborated track, Pag-Ibig Ko Sa Iyo, which is found in the RoK On! Music Inspired By Ragnarok Online. The group is the latest addition to the Sony-BMG Records roster, and their third full-length album titled Todo Combo

was released on May 2007. The carrier single is the fresh sounding track "Tadhana"

Moonstar 88 also made a slow and light renditon of the APO hit,"Panalangin" which was their contribution to the Kami nAPO Muna album.

Moonstar 88 started out like most indie bands, who submitted a demo CD to different record companies, but one company took them in: Alpha Records. Two of their members, Acel Bisa (former lead vocalist) and Paolo Bernaldo used to be with the band Orphan Lily in the mid 1990’s.

Apparently the band had a gig and they still don’t have a name for their group. They have a list then and have to pick one up before its their turn to perform. Moonstar was one of the many names on that list. They picked Moonstar 88 because apparently, they are performer number 88.
